MediaQueue

MediaQueue is a handy web site downloader that I worked on and maintained late 2002 through early 2005. I started the project as means to practice the development of graphical applications under Windows (including learning how to wrap the procedural Win32 API in reusable classes) as well as to introduce myself to multi-threading and networking. Over time MediaQueue gained some interesting features such as plug-in support (via DLLs), web gallery generation and page scraping. I eventually ported MediaQueue to C# and this made future development quite a bit easier.

MediaQueue became fairly popular, having tens of thousands of users (according to unique IP download requests). As an experiment, I decided to set up a PayPal account for donations and I was quite surprised to have actually received a couple hundred dollars worth over the course of the project. It was neat knowing that that many users liked MediaQueue enough to pay for it, even though this was completely optional. Seeing as MediaQueue has met the goals I set out for it, it is no longer being developed. Both the source code (C++/C#) and binaries remain in the public domain for anyone to use and/or tinker with.
